Tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate serves as an efficient flame retardant additive for polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams, carpet backings, fire-resistant paints, lacquers, coatings, resins and adhesives. It functions as a flame-retardant plasticizer for flexible and rigid polyurethane foams as well as unsaturated polyester resins. It can also be formulated into flame-retardant coatings, adhesives, epoxy resins and other thermosetting plastics. Besides textile back-coating to achieve fire resistance, it can be added into industrial lubricants and hydraulic fluids.
