Zinc Chloride is extensively used in multiple fields: it manufactures dyes, chemical intermediates and solvents, and acts as a Lewis acid and catalyst in organic synthesis. It serves as a metal etchant and soldering flux in metallurgy, and is applied in magnesia cement for dental and oral care products. In printing and textiles, it dissolves silk, cellulose and starch, makes vulcanized fibers, and acts as a mordant, fire retardant and fabric treatment agent. It works as an emulsion breaker for oil-water separation in petroleum industry, serves as electrolyte for dry cell batteries, and is also used as a condensing agent, dehydrating agent, wood preservative, deodorant and disinfectant.
